R&D Field Trials Manager

Agri Technovation is seeking an experienced R&D Field Trials Manager to oversee our field trial, specifically focusing on Grains and Vegetables. This role ensures our agricultural solutions meet regulatory standards while supporting marketing initiatives through robust trial data. The ideal candidate will have expertise in regulatory compliance, trial design, and implementation within the agricultural sector.

This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple field trial projects, collaborate effectively across teams, and maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies and external partners. Your expertise will be instrumental in bridging regulatory compliance with marketing strategies.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for regulatory and marketing field trials aligned with market potential and strategic goals.
• Plan and budget field trials, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and return on investment.
• Plan and manage allocated R&D budget within the annual timeframe and financial business principles.
• Approval of project plans in coordination with the Commercial Head.
• Define the start, end, and completion timelines for regulatory and marketing related field trials.
• Identify and select appropriate contractors for field trials.
• Select trial sites, crops, and cultivars based on regulatory requirements and market potential.
• Develop and implement trial protocols in collaboration with contractors.
• Oversee coordination with contractors throughout the trial process.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure trial integrity.
• Collect trial data and present findings to Commercial Head.
• Plan structured annual internal feedback on all R&D activities completed and ongoing.
• Finalise detailed trial reports for submission and assist in the creation of a regulatory dossier.
• Provide necessary data to compile regulatory dossiers for product registration.
• Generate data that can be used for marketing material, emphasising product effectiveness.
• Ad Hoc or other related duties as assigned.

 Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field; an advanced degree will be advantageous.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in agricultural field trials, both regulatory and marketing focused.
• Full professional proficiency in Afrikaans and English (speaking and writing)
• Computer literate

• Proven track record in project and budget management, with the ability to prioritise multiple initiatives effectively.
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret trial data and translate findings into actionable business insights.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with contractors, regulatory teams, and the commercial division. 
• Proficient in compiling reports using data and statistical software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work across departments and with external stakeholders.
