We do this through a variety of programs including emergency assistance, domestic violence emergency shelter, counseling, housing stability and access to food. Community Resource Center is widely recognized as the primary provider of social services and domestic violence programs in coastal North County San Diego, serving more than 7,200 people each year.
Position Profile: Under the supervision of the CRC Clinical Supervisor, the Mental Health Clinician supports CRC’s mission and growth by ensuring that all counseling services provided to clients and families are being implemented through a client-centered, integrative wellness and recovery model that is strength-based, culturally relevant, and consumer driven. The Mental Health Clinician provides clinical activities & therapeutic services to clients that have been victims of abuse, neglect, and other traumatic life events using evidence-based and evidence-informed practices with a specialization in trauma informed treatment. This is a grant-funded hourly (non-exempt) position.
- Position begins on July 1, 2026
- Compensation: $29.71-$40.00 per hour, depending on licensure, qualifications, and experience. Candidates with clinical licensure and significant relevant experience will be considered at the higher end of the range.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake interviews and psychosocial assessments with assigned clients.
- Develop treatment plans, including appropriate referrals to CRC and other relevant resources/services.
- Provide child, adolescent, group, dyadic and family therapy to victims of traumatic life events using evidence-based or evidence-informed treatment modalities, emphasizing trauma-informed principles and integrative mental health practice.
- Provide crisis intervention and management as appropriate.
- Ensure that intakes, treatment plans, progress notes, counseling and group services are scheduled and documented in a timely manner.
- Maintain thorough and accurate client files as required by agency policy, and the laws and regulations governing mental health services.
- Protect client confidentiality following protocols to obtain signed informed consents and authorizations to release information, as required by agency policy and the Health Information Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Engage in professional development to remain current on evidence-based/informed therapeutic interventions for trauma treatment and psychological health promotion strategies.
- Maintain professional licensure as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and certification as a Domestic Violence Counselor under California Evidence Code.
- Maintain legal and ethical standards of care as outlined by California Board of Behavioral Sciences and clinical professional guilds.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of client sensitive policies and procedures supporting trauma-informed counseling services.
- Participate in weekly individual and group clinical supervision.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required, including the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently using clinical terminology in both languages.
- Unrestricted California license as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC preferred; associates registered with the California BBS will also be considered. Bicultural experience preferred.
- Completion of 40-hour California state approved Domestic Violence training within 90 days of employment.
- Minimum of one year of experience providing counseling services in a nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of neglect and/or physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and other adverse experiences on a child’s developmental trajectory.
- Experience providing mental health treatment services to children, adolescent, and families.
- Ability to work with clients and staff of varied backgrounds, educational levels, and ethnic and religious origins; must demonstrate an acceptance and respect for cultural diversity in all its forms, including ethnicity, sexual orientation, abilities, and religious backgrounds.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and Saturdays.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, listening skills, and a demonstrated ability to foster a supportive environment for clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills and clear professional boundaries.
- Computer competence with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to use electronic information management system to document client services.

Physical requirements:
- Primarily sedentary with intermittent standing, walking, bending, and stair climbing.
- Occasional light lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work in a standard office environment at a computer, including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse.
This position is full-time, non-exempt and is paid according to federal and state laws. Candidates selected for hire are required to undergo a TB screening and LiveScan background screening.
